Description
Translate your WPML website faster with OpenAI.
Translation Assistant adds AI-powered translation directly to your existing WPML multilingual workflow.
Translate WordPress posts individually or in bulk, automatically connect translated content to the original WPML post, translate supported Yoast SEO and Rank Math metadata, and monitor OpenAI token usage and estimated API costs — all from your WordPress dashboard.
You use your own OpenAI API key. No translation credits or external translation subscription are required by the plugin.
Select your content, choose the WPML source and target languages, and launch translations directly from WordPress.

- Draft or publish — choose the publication status for translated content.
- Duplicate protection — check the existing WPML translation state before translating.
Built for WPML websites
Translation Assistant is designed for WordPress websites that already use WPML Multilingual CMS.
It does not replace WPML.
WPML continues to manage your site’s languages and translation relationships, while Translation Assistant provides an OpenAI-powered workflow for translating WordPress content.
Translated posts are associated with their original content through WPML so that your existing multilingual site structure remains intact.
Bulk AI translation
Translate several WordPress posts without processing every article manually.
Select multiple posts, choose the source and target languages, and add the translations to the built-in local queue.
The WordPress.org edition does not impose an artificial plugin-level bulk translation limit.
Your actual OpenAI usage remains subject to the limits and charges associated with your own OpenAI account.
Translate SEO metadata
Translation Assistant can translate supported SEO metadata together with your WordPress content.
When compatible fields are available, the plugin can translate:
- Yoast SEO titles.
- Yoast SEO meta descriptions.
- Rank Math SEO titles.
- Rank Math SEO meta descriptions.
This helps keep your translated article and its search-engine metadata in the same translation workflow.
Monitor OpenAI usage and estimated costs
Translation Assistant tracks OpenAI usage directly from the WordPress dashboard.
You can monitor:
- Input tokens.
- Output tokens.
- Estimated OpenAI API cost.
- Completed translations.
- Translation queue activity.
This gives site administrators better visibility into AI translation usage without leaving WordPress.
Translation history
Completed translation operations are recorded in the translation history.
Use the history to review previous translations, check their status and access translated content.
Draft or publish translated content
Choose how newly translated posts should be created.
Depending on your workflow, translated content can be created as a draft for review or published directly.
This makes Translation Assistant suitable for both editorial review workflows and faster automated publishing processes.
Duplicate translation protection
Before starting a translation, Translation Assistant checks the WPML translation state of the selected content.
If a translation already exists, or WPML Translation Management is already processing the same language, the plugin can stop the operation.
This helps reduce accidental duplicate translations.

External services
Translation Assistant uses the OpenAI API to translate content.

- Post title.
- Post body content.
- Excerpt.
- Supported SEO titles.
- Supported SEO meta descriptions.
- Other text required by Translation Assistant to perform the requested translation.
The request is made only after the site administrator configures an OpenAI API key and starts or configures translation through the plugin.
OpenAI is an independent external service.

Translation safety
