Nothing about your site is sent to us or to any third-party service. * **No limits.** Check 50 links or 500,000. There is no paid tier holding back features. * **Light on your database and server.** One row per unique URL (a link used in 300 posts is checked once), small background batches that stop after 20 seconds, and nothing at all runs for your visitors. * **Fewer false alarms.** A timeout or server error is re-tested before it is called broken. Sites that block automated checks (LinkedIn, some shops and social networks) are listed separately as “Blocked” instead of cluttering your broken-link list. * **Smart internal checks.** Links to your own posts are checked directly in your database — no web request — so it also catches links to drafts, private posts and posts in the trash. #### What it checks * Links (``) in posts, pages and any public custom post type. * Images (``) — including image files missing from your uploads folder. * Links within your own site — always. * Links to other websites — once you switch this on (it is off until you agree; see the FAQ). * Redirects — see where old links now point and update them to the final URL. #### Fix links in one click From the **Broken Links** screen you can, for any link: * **Edit URL** — type the new address once and it is updated in every post that uses it. * **Unlink** — remove the link but keep the text. * **Update to new URL** — replace a redirecting link with the address it now ends up at. * **Not broken** — dismiss a false alarm; it stays dismissed. * **Recheck** — test again right now. Every fix is saved as a normal post update, so a revision is created and you can always undo it. Bulk actions let you fix many links at once. #### Everything else you need * Filter by Broken, Needs confirmation, Redirects and Blocked, and search by URL or link text. * See the link text and every post that contains each link. * Count of broken links in the admin menu and a Dashboard widget. * Optional daily email when new broken links are found. * Optional: add `rel="nofollow"` to broken links until you fix them. * Optional: strike through broken links on the front end — visible only to logged- in editors. * Exclude URLs or whole domains (wildcards supported). * Export any list to CSV. * WP-CLI: `wp link-checker scan` and `wp link-checker report`. * Uninstalling removes every table, option and scheduled task the plugin created. Install the plugin from **Plugins Add New** (search for “IntellectSight Broken Link Checker”), or upload the `intellectsight-broken-link-checker` folder to `/ wp-content/plugins/`. 2. Activate it. 3. Open **Link Checker Broken Links**. Links within your site are checked straight away; keep the page open to see results within a minute or two, or leave it and checks continue in the background. 4. To also check links to other websites, click **Also check links to other websites** on that screen (or enable it in Settings). 5. Optional: open **Link Checker Settings** to choose content types, excluded URLs and email notifications. ## FAQ ### Do I need an account or an API key? No. The plugin works entirely on your own server and never contacts any service of ours. ### Does the plugin send data anywhere? No. The plugin never contacts IntellectSight or any other service, and it collects no usage data. To find out whether a link to another website still works, your server has to request that link. This is off by default: the plugin only checks links within your own site until an administrator turns on “Check links to other websites”. When it is on, your server requests only the addresses that appear in your own content, using a generic user agent that does not include your site’s address. You can exclude any domain or URL in Settings. ### Is there a limit on how many links it checks? No. ### Will it slow down my site? No. Nothing runs when visitors view your pages (unless you turn on the optional nofollow or strike-through features). Checking happens in the background in small batches every five minutes, each limited to 20 seconds, and the plugin never sends more than a few requests to the same website at a time. ### Why is a link listed as “Blocked” instead of “Broken”? Some websites (for example LinkedIn, Amazon and many social networks) refuse requests that do not come from a normal browser, answering with codes like 403, 429 or 999 even when the page works fine. Rather than wrongly report these as broken, the plugin lists them under “Blocked” so you can check them in your browser. ### What does “Needs confirmation” mean? The link failed once with a timeout or a server error. Websites have bad moments, so the plugin tests it again a few hours later before reporting it as broken. You can also click “Recheck” to test it now. ### Can I undo a fix? Yes. Every change is saved as a normal post update, so you can restore the previous version from the post’s Revisions screen. ### Which content does it check? Published posts and pages by default. You can add any public custom post type in Settings. ### Does it work on large sites? Yes. Links are stored once per unique URL in two small indexed tables, and all work is done in time-limited batches. On very large sites you can also run a full scan from the command line with `wp link-checker scan`. ### Where is my data stored? In two database tables on your site (`wp_isblc_links` and `wp_isblc_instances`).
