Description

Smartupworld Video Modal provides a simple shortcode to open videos in a lightweight, responsive modal window. No jQuery dependency. Works with self-hosted MP4 files and YouTube embeds.

Usage examples:

  • Self-hosted MP4 video:
    [smartupworld_video_modal url=”https://example.com/video.mp4″ button=”Watch Video” type=”video”]

  • YouTube video:
    [smartupworld_video_modal url=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEOID” button=”Watch on YouTube” type=”youtube”]

FAQ

Can I use YouTube links?

Yes. Add type="youtube" and use the YouTube embed URL (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEOID).

Can I use multiple modals on one page?

Yes. Each shortcode generates a unique modal independently.

Can I change the button text?

Yes. Use the button attribute: button="Play Now".

Does this plugin require jQuery?

No. Version 1.4 removed the jQuery dependency — it uses plain JavaScript.

How do I close the modal?

Click the × button, click outside the video, or press the Escape key.
