Suisui Form – EFO for Japanese Forms

Description

Suisui Form adds the input helpers that Japanese users expect to the forms you already have. It is not a form plugin: activate it and it works with Contact Form 7, Fluent Forms, Snow Monkey Forms, WPForms, Forminator, MW WP Form and plain HTML forms. No shortcode and no per-form setup are needed.

Features

  • Furigana auto-fill – type a name (with a Japanese IME) and the reading is filled into the furigana field, in hiragana or katakana. Deleting the name removes the matching furigana.
  • Full-width to half-width conversion – full-width digits and symbols in phone number, postal code, email and URL fields are converted when the field loses focus.
  • Move to the next field on Enter – pressing Enter no longer submits the form by mistake. The Enter that confirms IME conversion is ignored. Search boxes and other single-field forms are left alone.
  • “Required” badges – a small red “Required” badge is added to the label of each required field. Asterisks added by the form plugin are hidden for those fields.
  • Valid / invalid colours – invalid fields get a red border and light red background, valid fields a green border and light green background. Empty optional fields count as valid.
  • Validation messages in Japanese – for the kana type, phone number, postal code, email and URL format.
  • No pinch-zoom on smartphones – inputs smaller than 16px are raised to 16px, larger ones are kept.
  • Every feature can be switched off in the Suisui Form menu.

Works with

  • Contact Form 7
  • Fluent Forms
  • Snow Monkey Forms
  • WPForms (Lite)
  • Forminator
  • MW WP Form
  • Forms pasted as HTML from external services (for example MyASP)

Forms embedded in an iframe (for example Google Forms) cannot be reached by any plugin on the host page, so they are not supported.

When automatic detection is not enough

Suisui Form works out which field is which from labels, placeholders and field names. If a field has an unusual name, add one of these CSS classes to the input (or to an element that wraps it): fkwp-name, fkwp-kana, fkwp-hira, fkwp-kata, fkwp-tel, fkwp-zip, fkwp-mail, fkwp-url, fkwp-required, fkwp-optional, fkwp-off. The Manual settings tab explains each class.

Address auto-fill

Filling in an address from a postal code is not included. The free plugin zipaddr-jp works well alongside Suisui Form.

Privacy

Suisui Form does not collect or store anything users type, does not set cookies and makes no external requests.

Installation

  1. Upload the plugin folder to /wp-content/plugins/, or install it from the Plugins screen.
  2. Activate the plugin. It starts working on your existing forms right away.
  3. Optional: open the Suisui Form menu to switch features on or off.

FAQ

Does it replace my form plugin?

No. It only adds helpers on top of the forms you already have.

The furigana is not filled in on my smartphone.

On smartphones, choosing a predictive-text candidate directly gives no reading, so the result can be incomplete. Furigana auto-fill therefore runs on desktop only by default. You can turn it on for smartphones in the settings.

A field was not recognised correctly.

Add one of the fkwp- classes listed in the Manual settings tab to that field.

Does it work with forms inside an iframe?

No. A page cannot change what is inside an iframe from another site.

Is there a Pro version?

A separate paid add-on, Suisui Form Pro, adds analytics (drop-off per field, completion rate, input time and more). The free plugin contains no analytics and nothing in it is locked.
